Today, in Haq's, Bradford I saw a box of sweet tamarind. Inside the box were, what looked like small fruit. Can anyone tell me what they are used for. I have the liquid tamarind but curious about this.

Awon Saikia gave me some at the weekend. The sweet tamarind can be eaten as a fruit, taking off the shell and removing the stones. I was told not to eat too many or drink a lot of water with them as they work as a laxative, they thin the blood and are good for high blood pressure. Can be used to make a jam, mash and add salt and chilli. Hope this info helps.
